杉山 聖昇

1987年長野県長野市生まれ。中学時代、父が持つアルネ・ヤコブセンの洋書など建築関係の本を見て建築家を目指す。ヤコブセンはプロダクト・家具から建築まで様々なスケールのデザインをしており建築家とは生活全てに携わるデザイナーであると知る。神奈川大学のみかんぐみ曽我部昌史氏の研究室に所属し、プロジェクトリーダーとして様々な実施プロジェクトに携わる。大学院進学時にアルネヤコブセン、パントン、フィン・ユールなどの母校デンマーク王立アカデミー建築大学に1年間留学する。留学中半年間ファニチャーセメスターに所属し、椅子のデザインを学ぶ。その際椅子を製作する必要があり使い方を教わりながら工房で製作する。デンマークの家具デザイナーである、モーエンセン、ウェグナー、ポール・ケアホルムなどは木工マイスターを取得後にデザイナーになったことを知る。 そのことから大学院卒業後に、日本の家具製作の技術を学ぶため、城南職業能力開発センター木工技術科（旧品川職業技術専門校）で木工技術を学ぶ。 卒業後2015年mascotとして家具デザイン・建築設計までトータルにデザインを行なっている。

Kiyonori Sugiyama

Born in 1987 in Nagano, Japan. When I was in junior high school, I read my father's books on architecture, including Arne Jacobsen's books, and aspired to become an architect. Jacobsen designed products, furniture, and architecture on a variety of scales, and I learned that an architect is a designer who is involved in all aspects of life. At university, I joined the laboratory of Masashi Sogabe(MIKAN Architects) at Kanagawa University, where I worked as a project leader on various implementation projects. When I entered the graduate school, I studied for one year at the Royal Danish Academy of Architecture, the alma mater of Arne Jacobsen, Panton and Finn Juhl. During this time I spent half a year in the Furniture Semester, studying chair design. During this time, I needed to make a chair and was taught how to use it in the workshop. I learnt that Danish furniture designers such as Moyensen, Wegner and Poul Kjaerholm became designers after obtaining a woodworking meister. This led me to study woodworking after graduating from the graduate school, in order to learn the Japanese art of furniture making. I started my own company ''mascot'' in 2015, designing furniture and architecture.
